The Fittings Regulations introduce 'Approved Contractors' (Approved Plumbers) who are plumbers & contractors that do work covered by the Fittings Regulations. All 'Approved Plumbers' undertake to work to the terms of the Water Industry Approved Plumbers Scheme (WIAPS).

We advise our customers to use 'Approved Plumbers' for their plumbing work, for added peace of mind.

Approved Plumbers are allowed to carry out some work on behalf of customers without giving notice, & where necessary they will give notice on customers' behalf. Customers are assured that Approved Plumbers are bound to work in compliance with the Regulations & on completion they will provide customers & the Water Company with a certificate confirming that the work done complies with the Regulations.

The current network of Approved Plumbers is small but growing since the schemes launch in April 2000. It is intended to publish a list of Approved Plumbers early in 2001. Until then, we advise you seek several quote's for work and to use a plumber who is a member of a National Trade Association i.e. Institute Of Plumbing (IOP), Association of Plumbing and Heating Contractors (APHC) etc.
