Bursts and Leaks

Bursts

If your pipes burst then your priority will be to minimise any damage from escaping water. You can do this by taking the following actions:

  • Immediately turn off your stop valve and drain your water system.
  • Collect as much water as possible in buckets, baths and containers as this water can be used to flush the toilet - do not use this water to drink or cook with.
  • Make sure that your central heating boiler is turned off.
  • Do not touch any wet electrical fittings - call in an electrician.

Leaks

Your water company is embarked on a continual programme to fix the leaks in our own pipe network. However, it is estimated that 30% of leaks are from customers' pipes. So, it's critical that you make sure no water is being wasted via leaks in supply pipes feeding into your home, or from pipework inside. If you suspect a leak, call us immediately and ask for our Free Leak Detection service.

Free Leak Detection and Low Cost Repair Deal

To help you with this problem we now offer a low-cost repair deal, and will always make our experienced staff available free of charge to assist in locating leaks. If a leak is found we'll let you know immediately, along with details of the repair required.

Further Low-Cost Opportunities

In some cases, when we are working on our own pipe network, we are able to offer customers the option of us replacing their pipes at the same time - at a special low price. Customers who also opt for a meter will receive further discount on the cost of pipe replacement. Full details of the choices are available on request.
