Policy Statement

Folkestone and Dover Water Services, abstracts, treats, stores, distributes and manages water for domestic and commercial supply in a sustainable way.

Our principle aims are to provide a reliable supply that meets the relevant drinking water standards. These are supported by providing a high level of customer service through the performance of our employees and management system.

Management and employees are committed to our management system. The system is designed to help us achieve our mission, aims and objectives whilst satisfying the requirements of ISO 9001:2000 and 14001:2004.

In addition, as part of our ongoing commitment, we undertake to meet all legislative and regulatory requirements. We comply with relevant approved codes of practice and prevent pollution from our operations.

However, this is only a necessary minimum. We are committed to the sustainability of our business and to gradually contain the impacts, on the environment and community, of all our activities towards a practicable minimum.

This will be specifically achieved through:

  • Promoting the efficient use of energy, water, fuel and other resources throughout the Company's operations
  • Promoting waste minimisation, encouraging beneficial re-use or re-cycling and ensuring disposal where necessary in accordance with our duty of care obligations
  • Proactive participation in conservation management of Sites of Special Scientific Interest, Special Area of Conservation and Special Protection Area and other sites of archaeological, historic or environmental interest and sensitivity that fall within our control
  • Promoting staff awareness in respect of both corporate and group environmental requirements and relevant conservation issues. We encourage participation in environmental initiatives in respect of Company landholdings and in the community
  • Publishing our annual Corporate Responsibility Report and our continual commitment and compliance to the Veolia Water UK Corporate Responsibility Report principles.

Our planned process of continual improvement helps us ensure the effectiveness of our system and excellent service to customers. Included are management reviews, internal audit, independent external audit, action on non-conformance and implementing preventative action.
